Beautiful Being
Cancer Sun and Leo Moon
This is the combination of my daughter. The person of this nature is, like all Cancer Suns, very gentle at heart, but reactive if pressured. This comes from having a very vulnerable nature that is essentially stable in solitude, but becomes unstable as a direct result of shocks from other people. A chemical reaction results, pushing the self to settle deeper and deeper where safety can be restored, resulting in that sweet nature hidden beneath a hardened exterior which Cancer crabs are known for. But they will always cease their solitude to embrace their loved ones, and this lulling back into easiness is just their special nature, how they dance in the world. They are the most loyal of all the signs—belying this soft, yearning inside, which is capable of bearing the most intense emotion, as it comes from a deep, deep down lake-like bottom. Such bodies of water, both fresh and salt water lakes, ruler over Cancer for good reason. This person is as deep as he or she is contained, and there’s tremendous power and tenacity in the Cardinal water sign. Cardinal signs in general—Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn—represent solid directional points, they initiate everything—their bursts of self-surety are needed for all acts to originate, and those bearing a Cardinal sign as their Sun are comfortable with such initiatory acts and the joys of conception. For the Cancer this initiatory act is a love act. Cancer rules over the summer and its wild heat and the deep relief of diving into a pool. But so does Leo thrive and solidify in the summer heat. Being a fixed sign, what grounds and lends depth to the energy begun in Cancer, Leo whips the sweetness and defensiveness of Cancer into conscious embodiment, aware of itself. The Leo Moon accentuates emotion to the nth degree, really to such a degree that it transmutes (as fire represents) what emotion even is, and turns it into a radiance of being. The Leo Moon makes what the Cancer feels radiate beyond what most Cancers would dare express—this combination is a powerful friend, they are outstanding speakers (when it stirs them), and boldly wear their feelings and associations on their sleeves. The Leo Moon acts as arms by which the Cancer Sun can act; much natural defensiveness and protectiveness are abated with this Moon, and the result is a more social Cancer, a more involved and energetic companion. There is a great deal of innocence and force with this combination, between these two signs which span the highest heat of summer. Still, fire only dances over water and cannot penetrate—so at times the Leo Moon will lead to an overextension emotionally of what the Cancer Sun is really capable of, and some kind of illness or depression or emotional implosion can follow. There’s a cyclical destructive constructive nature just naturally in our water and fire combinations, a period of output followed by one of tending and recovery. At stressed moments the person will behave very Leonine-like, short-tempered and selfishly tending to themselves, but they soon shake themselves out of it. The Cancer Sun is so essentially stable. There can be stubborn periods of taking one’s self too seriously and the pride wounded, too—and not being chosen or being bullied is devastating, but this person, when met with any kindness, instantly melts, forgives, becomes adaptable, and falls back into openheartedness. Open-heart is the key word. Though the Cancer exterior is hard, the Leo Moon is like a constant volcano—it needs—covets—melts for touch and interaction, so the exterior is like the hard shell of a hut whose door always wafts open in the breeze. There is incredible openness as well as mystery, as is the case with all water signs. The love language is most decidedly touch with the Cancer-Leo, as well as tone. They are like children in their sensitivity. They need love very close to them in order to flourish throughout life. Theirs is not a constitution which bears much stark loneliness. Work-wise, this person can do anything as long as it’s emotionally fulfilling—it can be the most dry and dull matter there happens to be as long as there’s that someone this person can love and respect nearby them. But artistically—they really shine.
