The Shape Shifter
Gemini Sun and Gemini Moon
I had a fling once with a man of this combination. He helped me when I wanted to be close to someone without being judged, pried into, or even very much talked to. Surprising, but the New Moon combination in Gemini can turn it off or on depending upon their mood, which they are not too particular about. This person’s flow is to be envied—they’re literally chameleons because of how they can bring themselves to be noticed or slip away from observation. Apparently life is all created in our minds, and so they seem to have tremendous power to shape their own destiny and affect how they are seen and interpreted because of a mental consciousness as sensitive as echo location. They have little patience for emotional weariness, personal contradictions, or personality schisms, even if they can possess all that. Whatever they have going on in themselves, even if the emotional caliber is very high, their natures transform it so instantly that no one notices. They can even strike people as fake because of how blithely they’re able to talk about things, from the superficial to the very deep, all in the same language and tone. But they are blessed with a level of removedness that is actually profound calm. Even if struck with the nervous mental tension the sign of Gemini is known to experience, their recycling of information and practice of releasing it soon returns them to their typical sage-like manner. They are one of the most deeply contradictory double signs. They yearn for all the details, to skim over the surface of everything—as it’s all so fascinating—but they bring to that the profound gift of non-judgement. It’s just, they cannot justify judgement when they themselves would look into anything because of the depth of their curiosity. They also have natural empathy for all the people they meet as they understand that all connections derive from the mystery of this curiosity. So they know all kinds of people of the most variable groups imaginable. They’re in constant communication with some wavelength or other. Double Geminis do not hold things against themselves. They vary from indecisive, crushed by choices that all appear open-ended because of this gift of detachment they posses—to being in the moment with a grace that is deeply unconscious. The New Moon types are the most unconscious of the configurations as the symbol of the subconscious—the Moon—lives side by side the conscious realm of the Sun. They have, therefore, complete submersion in their own worlds. And that world just happens to feel rich with the myriad connective tissue which the double Gemini emanates with; they are not the types to suffer loneliness or boredom. Because of how questioning they are, and that requires a certain buoyant lightness, their worlds appear less heavy, and their thoughts too, even when the subject is remarkably serious. They just brim with a naivety that loves seeing where the light shines through. Ultimately they must go where their heart and consciousnesses lead them. They will always choose the new start over the old drag, but that’s the New Moon formation for you. They may not have typical liaisons in love either, being essentially devoted to unpredictable currents and future potentialities. This double sign would be that of Peter Pan, the one we all fall in love with, and seems to love us, but is beholden to something so beautiful that he is better left to it. This is not the most embodied sign—and this person can feel outside of themselves half the time. The man I knew smoked weed constantly, and I never once saw him remotely broken up in anyway—perhaps double Geminis are just too flexuous for that; they might actually experience an entire lifetime without ever breaking down openly. He was the only one, though, who relaxed me at a period that I have to recall was the deepest period of grief in my life. Time resonates specially with them, seeming to slow down and speed up. They have the power of transporting others out of the time and space that absorbs them—to—somewhere else. Theirs is the power of liberation. This is a deeply ethereal combination, the double Gemini Sun and Moon, whose ruler is Mercury, planet of the trickster, of mirth, the yearning to see and communicate all.
