Libra Sun and Aries Moon
Libra and Aries is the most classic pairing and the inner marriage of the two concentrates together the most charismatic, affable, yet deeply confident person, and I believe this is even more true of this combination than the classic opposite, with an Aries Sun, Libra Moon. Yes, with the Aries Moon we have a person whose very nourishment comes from the fires of confidence. Flexing his or her ability to speak and to act is what drives the person forward, and so this drive is like an endless feast, at which the person is always able to eat. The Aries Moon continues to serve itself, continues to grow, and the Libra Sun acts as this wonderful check on the Aries Moon, yet without crossing or undermining this well of confidence that is really the wellspring of joy of the inner child, by simply containing the charge within a playground of morality. And the Aries Sun is very confident there, where so much is known and established and he or she blows flames on what exists, and finds new doors, new pathways, a life of discovery and connection. With a Libra Sun, the world is one of morality and forces of dark and light that intermingle and shift, but retain this sacred balance which has at its crux a deep respect for all humanity. And it is this deep unmovable respect that reins in the typical maniacal tendencies of the Aries Moon and brings that Moon into alignment with a purpose that supersedes the powerful ego. The Aries-Libra combination is that of the Full Moon and the person has a light to shine on all; they are really beacons of respect in themselves, exuding a fearlessness that keeps others warm. This fearlessness underlies the person’s good nature, and his or her desire to love and accept others—which is a radical act in itself. Though ironically, this Libra has much less need of that acceptance themselves (than other Libras do) for the Aries Moon is the loneliest and the most unreachable of the Moons. He or she does not need what other people need in the same way, the completion of self in an other, for it is the fuel of life itself, that replenishing feast of confidence and drive that has always nourished the person. He or she of course will take love, will take communion, yet a part of themselves remains whole, remains untouchable. A Libra Sun is an extremely flexible cradle for an Aries Moon, and thus this person gets to retain their childlike spirit, throughout life, for the Libra heart of them is so allowing, and so expansive. The Full Moon also makes for an auspicious life, one in which the deep ambition collides with a real collective need, and this person will be made to understand his or her purpose. Fire and air is that of the whirlwind, the tornado lonely over the plains, yet bringing together the whole eyes of the community. This is a deeply beautiful figure, as available as they are uncatchable; that is their paradox. I know a young woman of this combination whose outreach for the greater good was so impressive, yet it was the light in her eyes, the expressions of her face I liked, and her immediacy which made me want to walk near her, be near her.
When I was growing up in a town I felt alien in and oppressed by, a Libra-Leo girl was my best friend and made me feel as if nothing I did or felt was ever strange or wrong. With a Libra Sun and Leo Moon, we have the blend of air and fire, thus the pleasant carrying of the scent of smoke and flame over long distances. It’s a happy and exuberant blending, one which results in heightened states of consciousness and joy. There’s little time given to the agonized overly concentrated self or depression. The person is more focused on the triggers and respondents to his or her light, and as for themselves, they view their own beings as more indefinable and transcendent, like the flame. The Leo Moons I know experience joy in their very unconsciousness, as if the wellspring of creation and hope resides there. There’s a quick, cursory kind of self-care, and then the rest is doled out and spread by way of a powerful will towards the fallow fields in their vicinity which would benefit from their depth of mind and hopefulness. They do well in perceiving their affect more than their essence, which blinds them. The Leonine Moon is more absolved of the problem of ego than the Sun sign Leo whose ego burns even its own self. The Leonine Moon is more a fire which loves burning down to its embers and by habit, memory, or deep love gets teased into rich flame again. This process binds the person to his or her days and nights. Act and connection is more important than place or even home. The person transcends or floats above it all. He or she spends much time in creative act or thought. This Moon was waning at birth, about three quarters to the New. Thus, dissemination, disintegration, and the powers of deep observance without direct involvement are gifted to the person. All waning Moon people must grapple with loss that is not directly their fault, but the result of many causalities, crossed fates, and cruel circumstances. But whatever happens to the Libra-Leo is taken in stride and recapitulated so that the person’s boundless optimism and creativity can help others to cope and recover, and in doing so they themselves flame up and thrive. It’s how they heal. In personal love, they are loyal and get to experience their most vulnerable selves in recipience with someone else, a relief, as the Leo Moon is very unto itself, and self-nourishing. That being said, the person loves a good fawning over and caressing, as any Leo would. And Libra Sun, forget about it, there are principles to uphold. This is a person to trust. They are also the most witty and sarcastic of them all—no person is better at laughing at themselves. The girl I knew was bold where I longed to be bold and soft without letting any vulnerability undermine her deep strength. She was brilliant and mirthful; sincere and compassionate. There were some things I never told her, for fear she would not have understood, as the Libra-Leo’s world is so bright and seemingly without pitfalls, but, now that I think of it, I think she would have got me after all.
