The Poet

Libra Sun and Gemini Moon

A doubling of Air; with the Sun in Libra and the Moon in Gemini, we see a Moon on the wane. The waning Moon is very observant and assimilating which balances out the urgency and restlessness typical with a Gemini Moon. This person is brilliant with his or her words; their mind flows, briefly attaches, and gleans much before moving on. There is so much constant assessing and reaction going on. Libra is the most people-oriented sign of the zodiac and loves being in the middle of things, taking so much in and giving it back, balancing, making connections. The Gemini Moon is equally as social—with this trinity of air, we have the social butterfly par excellence, the life of a party, the joint easing the connection. We also have a person who, not knowing the right time to retreat or what it means to center, finds themselves emotionally and sometimes physically off keel, and drawn to states of being that mirror—or in the spirit of Gemini—double this. With a waning Moon there is quite a deep connection to body; these people tend to be more cautious and self-concerned than the waxing Moon which acts first and assimilates later. The built in caution here makes it so that this person is very aware of the effect another person or situation or place may have on his or her psyche or body, but doesn’t do the proper extricating to heal or center afterwards. There is a tendency to brush over, or take to extremes, so as to remain in that pulsing center—to be dangerously out on a limb. The person is genius about expressing this off-kilter state whether it is through writing or dance or what have you. There is much buoyancy and strange endurance and arresting expression to the person. He or she can get caught in these long periods of waning, avoiding the hard act of leaving or totally shifting, becoming more and more amorphous or pierced through, or tortured. It’s not a mistake that in Tarot the suit of swords is air—representing the violence of bizarre conjectures and projections of the mind. The person is more devoted to an ephemeral sense of the times than any one other person and there can be real agony about missing out. Gemini is the ninth house from a Libra Ascendant, and so there is a desire to not only learn all the person can from witnessing and connecting ideas but to make poetical reactions. This is also the house of God, and this person can be very much in conversation with ‘Source.’ Yet—there is a queer sense of removal that bites this person and is shaped like sorrow. He or she can go on believing that it is sorrow alone and not joy or oneness that links a person with God. Air after all is the most separatist of all the elements; the element of invisible distance. Joy is always unexpected, and throws them for a loop; to chase after joy the person can suddenly change direction, and that is as close to getting reborn as they get. Deep relationships of course can elude them. Oh, he or she might attract a person who blows them out of their waters, as the Libra-Gemini is fearless in facing any character that exists on the face of the earth —but there’s the risk that they might lose complete sense of themselves, waft away, or thin to nothing; so much of an enduring relationship involves trusting that the joy will naturally reappear, that fecundity comes in cycles. Not one to be very hip to cycles, this one, staying too long as they do in certain ‘states.’ Essentially, the double air sign is at risk of numbing his or her senses, and in the process, relationships tend to naturally dissolve. There is great dignity with Libra though and the person will be respectful to the utmost. Ultimately, eventually, a Libra must choose a partnership, and the person will likely go for someone who represents something more than a simple human, such as these elusive times they’d like to make a mark on. Yes, stamped by the times, the Libra—who would like everyone to know inner peace and strangely enough has very little of it himself. Alas, the Libra-Gemini is a configuration of searching and never finding, and a sorrow building up in the body that leads to heart-wrenching philosophies and musings. The person is very much a Verlaine or a wanderer in this life. They identify lack of peace as part of their personality and, always avoiding a total breakdown and a complete transformation, can endure this lack of peace for God knows how long. The nerves may get very strained. However, it should be noted that double Air means the Sun and Moon are in trine aspect, which is the aspect of multiple blessings; the person will be bountiful in beauty and intelligence. I had a brief affair with this combination once; it was an in between relationship for me, lovely but not so deep, he would rather not have had us affected in any negative way, so the positive was reduced too. A beautiful-looking boy, almost a decade younger than I was, with hair like the Madonna, who liked to dance all night to electronic music. There can be an androgyny to this configuration too with the Moon in the sign of duality, the twins, and with the Sun graced by Venus. The person sees more than they understand and life is a gradual unconscious awakening and following of this understanding.
