Sagittarius Sun and Leo Moon

A Leo Moon coupled with a Sagittarius Sun is a combination of double Fire. The Moon here is waning beyond the Full, a phase of simmering down, collecting dues, and basking in the after-effects of hard work. It precedes the hard three quarter Moon when what has been integrated and what needs to be let go to “become new” is at tense odds. There is a definite sense of ease and upkeep with this one, a phase of life correlating with late middle age, a generally active reaping time for most people. I know a man who is this combination; I work for him in his greenhouse. I am continuously surprised with how many people he is on a first name basis with in our town and the huge range of his “reaping” power. He is in his fifties but his energy is incredible, as can be expected with Fire burning over both Sun and Moon, Fire ruling spirit and our inner engines. The Sun is purpose and intention, consciousness and aim, and in Sagittarius this aim is manifold, adaptive, encompassing and wide. The person’s mere love of life keeps them learning through the years and on their toes. The life is one of gaining and discarding, of morphing and sweet alignment. The Leo Moon, over the moon with excitement over the dreams of a Sagittarius Sun, thus blazing up the moods and firing the intentions with purpose and self-confidence, is, however, a much more personally oriented placement, and bodes well for the more hidden Moon sign. Leo Moon sign people can be broody and unexpectedly confrontational but it quickly passes. They burn up their bad moods, they burn up their good moods—energy is to be used, exchanged, and these people love standing up for people, symbolizing a wholeness for others, and standing up for what they believe in. There can be emptiness and desire at play deep in their chests which keeps them reshaping their egos and at the same time unconsciously effacing themselves so as to etch away at the heart of what they really want, Leo of course, ruling the heart. These people with their sincere attentions and embodied gracefulness tend to be very attractive to others, while a conundrum at times to themselves, for they are with pronounced selfhood on the path toward selflessness, toward expansion of the heart. Leo is the sign of stepping up to one’s inner plate, becoming what one is meant to be, and letting the ego shine as it is meant to shine—which happens the brightest when what Leo serves is his love of other people and cause rather than just love of himself and his needs (which are pronounced.) The Leo Moon is here in the person as a base ground of experience with learning coming through striving and loss, attraction and repulsion, desire and death. The lessons of what it is to be a soul in this world. The Sagittarius Sun will naturally keep on keeping on on the road toward more selflessness and higher purpose, with their personable, interested Leo Moon acting as a fulcrum for establishing and holding personal relationships all along the way. This is a powerful person, beaming individuality and devil may care smiles, while working ceaselessly for what he or she believes in. There can be burnout, as with all Fire-Fire combinations, but the person, down to his embers, merely trudges on until hitting the natural upswing which always follows a down pull. My occasional boss is always doing selfless things for me and for others, even though there is a part of him that is deeply materially, personally oriented, as a Leo Moon sign would be, yet he is here at work among the people for deeper reasons (even deeper than he consciously realizes.) It has been my pleasure thus far to help this man, to listen to him patiently even when I find he is prejudiced, and I have felt my role near him is in accosting these prejudices and helping him break them up, so that his Sagittarius ethos can grow. Leo Moon can be so prejudiced and young at heart. Even Sagittarius can become very fixed in opinions before the holes in their philosophy becomes evident to them and then they are in great need of change. A Leo Moon can actually delay this, make this journey longer, more personally agonizing for Leo is the sign of Fixed burning fire. Brooding can become overwhelming and then it is all burned away in the overwhelming love these people feel for being alive. Broad shouldered, hulking, a child’s smile, deeply respectful, and known by all, the man I’ve known of this combination, calling out to those he knows from his truck hustling down the road.
