The Skull with Fire in its Eyes
Sagittarius Sun and Sagittarius Moon
The New Moon configuration of Sagittarius, that of a Sagittarius Sun and Sagittarius Moon is a very hilarious and fearless person. This Sun and Moon pairing could also be a Dark Moon if the Moon is several degrees behind the Sun—and then the person’s hilarity is more heavily spiced with self-deprecation and wry powers of observance. But ultimately this person really believes and trusts to his or her actual transcendence. They are deeply curious about the subjects that interest them and fancy themselves as experts after racking up not only an obsessive amount of knowledge but uncanny experiences that seem to flesh them out as the characters they yearn to be. Life is unusual; the edges are so much broader than normal through sheer grandiosity of perspective. The person excepts to be shown the heavens, the depths, the invisible markings everywhere of the spirit world, and the tragic arc of people he or she encounters at every turn. They generally choose faith, renewal, and transformation as the be all end all, and perhaps more than any other configuration are blessed with the luck and timing to have this faith become a veritable pillar. They are again and again shown the door of light even if traveling in darkness of mind or circumstance. They will remember, suddenly, their faith. They are aware, unconsciously, of the foundational balancing forces of this universe and know that behind every dark, traumatic, self-indulgent, or reckless turn waits a window, a tunnel, to redemption. That any way can bend to the wise path of learning. Everything teaches them and they are brilliant students, growing into relatable and illustrious teachers. This person is genius, a sponge-like absorber of information, and has the right dash of bravado to rove through trenches enough to become emblematic of what he or she believes in. They use themselves as testing objects, their bodies, their minds, their hearts—everything is on the table. The double Sagittarius is particularly capable of extracting the positive from any experience. Becoming the hero of their tale is the secret, unconscious motivation. They want to save something, better something, make it grow with the power of their belief and dedication. Sagittarius as a sign is ruled by Jupiter, planet of the Lord of Law, who spreads benefit over all the land, ruling justly and according to tradition. They rise to the heights of any organization, medium, paradigm, or discipline which absorbs them. They are capable too of breaking down the walls of any construct they attempt to rule, but only after their long journey brings them through hardship and disillusion. Then they must accept that what they put their faith in was too limited for them, and they resignedly set that aside, and—hopefully—become ever more open to the universal human condition. They are not bitter souls, but ones that grow through difficulty. But—life is really not so full of pitfalls—their luck is insane—this person is so used to soaring, succeeding, or grasping effortlessly that they expect always to return to such a state, and the power of their faith shows them the way, and they are not wrong. Return they do, and with more inner treasures than they began with. In love this person is not to be forgotten, and may be loyal in heart to more than one beautiful soul on earth. All their love affairs are real and important. They may be wholly invested in one particular person, but that person must be aware that they are a type to bend themselves into unexpected winds. The person’s stories are everything to them. They weave magic through skeins of smoke. They are dashing, loyal, and passionate. Sometimes they suffer from emotional disparities, holes, or things left undeveloped because the dream was so big, so important, that some of the smaller, important, minute details—having to do with family or the mysteries of the heart—were glossed over in pursuit of the great adventure. A man who was once my father-in-law was this combination, and a stranger more impressively confident soul, whose stories were his life, I’ve never met with. Also, my first real male friend, who I met when I was seventeen, whose ability to make me laugh and see the lightheartedness even in my deepest teenage gloom saved my life, and who I suppose was in love with me, but never asked for anything, a double Sag whose Moon was slightly on the dark side.
