The Heart Locket
Taurus Sun and Cancer Moon
This magnanimous and most feminine combination belongs to two women I know and love in my life, who feel as my family. Of course just because these two signs are ‘soft,’ that of earth and water, does not mean there is not a masculine embodiment for this type, but the man would be gentle and with a greater than average capacity for holding space. The Taurus Sun weaves an emotionally rounded, hard-earned, individually wrought pattern of sense into the days as well as a love of family and all the wonderment that can constitute a home. This natural Taurean desire of a beautiful, enriching home is expanded upon and deeply nourished by the involvement of the Cancer Moon, which is in the sign of its rulership. A moon full to the brim with its own emotion cast into the sea of a beloved body describes the Cancer Moon who has Taurus at the helm. The Taurus Sun lends an ability to create just the right environment for deep feelings to feel safe and at play. There’s a need for security, but there never seems to be a real lack of that in any way. The Taurus-Aries can make the most dear association with any place they happen to be as they are deeply woven into the present, and must come home to themselves in a holistic way wherever they are. The person creates the reality they so creatively desire or spiritually sense; they tend to take the best qualities of childhood and family and ancestry and transform it all ritually into their adult lives. So it seems the Taurus-Cancer weaves the child-self into every facet of the adult life. There’s a strong mark of nostalgia for old places, the grandparents, and childhood in general. Even hard elements in the past are given proper recognition, but this person, out of love, yearns above all to understand and is not capable of long-term resentment. She or he transmutes it all, overcomes. There can be very moody upsets, however, and sometimes the mundane world makes this person become unraveled by particulars. Yet the childishness seems to have a limit. For even when very young, this person knew how to calm themselves. They were always coming to an understanding. They strike for peace in the midst of all the wild aspects of the universe and their own psyches. This combination is no stranger to long solitary hours in the home, or languishing at favorite haunts, where he or she folds into the enormous breast of many thoughts, desires, and dreams. Romantically, and in partnership, there is no richer soul as sensual and dear as this one, though because of the enormous steadiness such a combination possesses, the person lacks the intensity other more unstable or dramatic combinations might roll with. The interior self is very rich and can, at times, as the Cancer sign symbolizes what closes and opens diurnally, be hard to reach. Romantically and in partnership the person becomes very fulfilled, but because Taurus is the opposite of Scorpio, there can be times of breakage and peril, where deaths are imminent. Then the person is thrown at last into choppy waters, could even be wrenched apart, have to abandon old ties, suffer emotionally distress, the feeling of being homeless and cast out to sea. But this person possesses a heavy, a true compass filled with brimming pathos which by inner emotional direction alone will lead him or her to another home that can be dear, another person, job, etc. Most of all this particular combination experiences such longevity and stability that permanence does not seem an illusion but a fact of life. The Taurus-Cancer can also become a symbol for others, or a conduit, electrifying those close to them as to how to live with both dignity and feeling. She or he witnesses incredible things in life, and there’s an ear for wisdom that eventually transmutes into a power for storytelling and expression. The person is protected usually by the nearness of a lover who cannot live without them. Here the Moon is at a waxing crescent which perfectly describes the accessible childishness and hopefulness and faith in the universe this person possesses.
